Mrs A Unconfirmed Activation turned serious
This visit was the result of an unconfirmed activation from the alarm system. We were aware the client was working aboard and decided that it was best to send a Key Guard to assess the situation. We arrived at the property, and there was no evidence of a break-in and the external check of the property was fine. Upon entering the property, we could hear the sound of a waterfall and established that the power was off. On further investigation, we checked upstairs and discovered the floor was under 8-10 inches of water. The weather condition had been bad recently and our first thought was that there must be a leak in the roof. When we located the problem, we discovered that a pipe had burst in an en-suite bathroom. We shut down the water supply quickly, which saved the client further extensive damage. We contacted the emergency contacts and proceeded with clearing up fallen ceiling pieces and the water. We constantly took pictures for the client to use as evidence for their insurance. This client uses CMS services as they travel for three months at a time and this situation could have been a lot more severe if the water damage was prolonged. Our attendance to the property meant that we were able to deal with the situation quickly and the client’s repair costs were reduced.
